If we teach our children to love their curls from the start, they will grow up confident in their natural beauty. At Southern Curl, we’re here to guide your child’s curl journey, providing education, care, and customized styling to set them up for success.
Step 1: Getting Started
We now welcome children ages 3 and up for our Curly Kid Cuts experience. To begin, children ages 3-16 must:
- Complete a New Client Request Appointment Form
- Schedule a 15-minute In-Person Consultation
This consultation allows our curl specialists to assess your child’s hair and create a customized curl journey plan tailored to their needs.

(Includes Consultation + Curly Kids Starter Bundle)
During this appointment, you will receive:
✔ A “How to Prepare for Your Curl Appointment & Styling Tips” pamphlet
✔ A selection of at-home samples to explore before the next step—the Curl Education Appointment
✔ The Curly Kids Starter Bundle (Valued at $150), which includes:
- Custom-selected cleanser
- Conditioner
- Leave-in conditioner
- Detangling brush
- Sleep wrap
These tools and resources will help you and your child feel confident and prepared for the next step in their curl journey.
Step 2: The Children’s Curl Education Appointment
(Scissor-Free Session – 1.5 Hours, $195+)
This interactive appointment is designed to educate both child and parent on proper curl care. Our curl specialists will guide you through:
- Cleansing and detangling techniques using our lay-down shampoo beds
- Styling methods to enhance and maintain your child’s natural curls
- Our signature Moisture Detox Treatment to remove buildup and deeply hydrate curls
💡 What You’ll Learn & Receive:
✔ A custom take-home folder with everything you need to know about styling and caring for your child’s curls
✔ Guidance on which products work best, how much to use, and how to apply them
✔ A discussion on porosity, density, curl shape, and thickness—all of which determine the ideal products for your curly child

This appointment not only equips you with at-home styling confidence but also prepares your child for their next step: the Custom Curl Cut.
Key Benefits
Another key benefit of this session is assessing whether your child is ready for a curl cut. Since this service requires patience and stillness, we want to ensure they can sit comfortably for an extended period. If they’re not quite ready, you’ll still leave empowered with the knowledge to care for their curls at home.
Step 3: The Custom Curl Cut
Once your child has completed the Curl Education Appointment, they are eligible for their Custom Curl Cut. Pricing for this service is based on hair length and density, which will be quoted after the Curl Education Appointment.

This appointment is charged 100% of the booking total, even if we must stop due to wiggles or tears.
